AUTHORITY - DO YOU RESPECT IT?

Refusing to submit to God-given authority is like jumping from a plane with no parachute. You may enjoy the freedom for a short while, but it comes with a great cost.

Choose the number between 1 and 5 that most accurately represents your normal behavior or attitude toward the following statements. 1=Not really, 2=Seldom, 3=Sometimes, 4=Often, 5=Mostly

1. I find fault with those in authority over me. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

2. I find myself disagreeing with leadership decisions. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

3. I distrust the motives of those who have authority over me. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

4. I can’t see the real value of submitting what I do to church leaders. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

5. The only authority I believe I should be submitting to is God’s. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Suggested Exercise: If you struggle with submitting to authority figures, particularly in your church, confess it to a leader, suggesting that you want to change and begin moving in the opposite spirit to what you normally do (Hebrews 13:17).
