IT WAS ALL OVER WHEN I GOT MARRIED

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
— John 14:1-3

On May 31, 1997, Megan and I achieved our long-awaited objective when we both said the words, “I do.” We had dated for five years. It was a glorious day. It had finally arrived.

In that glorious moment of conquest, I gazed into Megan’s eyes and with a sigh of relief, I said, “Whew! I’m glad that’s over. Now I can relax. Put my feet up. Save some money on phone calls and dates. No more long hours of conversation. No more deep questions. No more poetry and candles and fireside chats. Now that we have each other, we can move on to something else.”

NO OF COURSE NOT! I DID NOT SAY ANY OF THOSE THINGS!

Marriage is not the final destination. My relationship with Megan was not over - it was just starting. The wedding day isn’t the end; it’s just the beginning! Likewise, heaven is not the end.

Learn to grow your love for Jesus, because it’s what you’ll be doing for all eternity. You’ll spend forever getting to know him better.
