Christ, Himself
In the previous post we looked at Jesus’ last words to his, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age” (28:19-20, emphasis added).
Most of us know this verse. But did you notice the promise of power that Christ gave to his disciples. “I am with you,” he said.
He doesn’t just give you vision and gifts to fulfill your purpose. Nor does he give you his power – like giving you a can of some energy drink before a race. He gives you his power by giving you himself.
You’ve got more than a drink; you’ve got a running partner you can lean on. He’s with you today, tomorrow and forever. Your success as a son and daughter of God is so important to him that he’s entered the race and will do everything he can to make sure you win it.
If his purpose is your purpose, then you’re in it together. That’s his promise to you.
