Choose one of three answers to the following questions:

I am confident that I belong to Jesus because:

A)    I prayed to accept him as my Savior

B)   His Spirit confirmed it in my heart when I was filled with the Holy Spirit

C)   Both of the above

We are going to discuss in more detail the issues around the Spirit, the Church and the Kingdom Of God, but for now let me throw one question at you.

Have you been filled with the Spirit? 

“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:15-16). 

Being filled with the Spirit does many things, but primarily it settles in our hearts that we truly belong to God. It takes theology and turns it into experience. If you’re not sure what it means to be filled (or baptized) in the Spirit, then can I encourage you to find out? It’s too important, especially in terms of knowing to whom you belong.
